Grow the varieties we do! Farmer-selected, field-tested

Our seedlings are available May-June at farmers markets, our farm and select local retailers. We do not currently offer online ordering, but rest assured we have a large selection available at farmers market and at the farm! From arugula to zucchini (and a lot in between), we offer around 250 varieties.

The difference between our seedlings and the ones typically offered at garden centers is that we carefully select the varieties based on our experience with them in the field. From us, you know you'll be getting tried-and-true, field-tested selections of your favorite crops.

We also give you a good start with ample amounts of organic, compost-based potting mix in our deep pots, which we also inoculate with beneficial fungi (9 species of mycorrhizae). Do not use fungicides, herbicides, or synthetic pesticides if you want to keep the healthy soil ecosystem intact. These plants are intended for organic growing—sorry, not sorry!

Hear from a few of our seedling customers:

Make it stand out

“Hey Farmer Folk...

I just thought you might like to see how well one of your sunflower starts did out in the world. The irony is that I actually had decided to thin this particular plant out of the backyard sunflower garden, but while it was definitely the weakest contender at the time, it just seemed like it deserved another chance. So I took it around front, stuck a spade in the lawn and inserted the baby sunflower, figuring it wouldn't survey a week. That was four months ago, and it's become the talk of the neighborhood. Thanks for growing and offering such high quality plants, guys. I can't take credit for this one, all I did was water and watch it grow!”

“I wanted you to see my first pickings of Speckled Romans. I picked up four seedlings from you folks at the Brunswick Farmers' Market and they have been growing beautifully! Gorgeous plants. This first batch weighed in at 3 1/2 pounds and more ripening on all four plants. Great seedlings!”

My husband was a little questioning the price of the your tomato plants versus what we usually pay for them here in our town. They were more than double the price. So he split the difference and bought half at Whatley and half locally. Yesterday he came inside and said, “Tam, you should come see my tomato plants from Whatley!! They are way out growing the other ones. Next year, we are getting them all from Whatley!!”
