Even though we got the plastic on the new greenhouse, it has not been warm enough for long enough to have melted the snow inside. Eventually this structure will be heated, but we hope that even before we hook up the propane there will be enough warm-ish sunny days to melt the snow and ice inside. That would mean we could start setting up tables for plants and storage for pots and tools in preparation for the coming year.
Here is a photo of the new hoophouse (in the front) and the new greenhouse (in the back) next to the barn. You can really get a feel for the sheer size of them from this angle. The new greenhouse is shorter in length than the hoophouse, but it is about 2 feet taller, which you can just make out in this picture.
We will be at both markets this weekend - Midcoast Winter Farmers' Market on Friday from 11-4 and the Brunswick Winter Market on Saturday from 9-12:30. We hope to see you there and wish you a happy new year in person!
See you at market,
