The snow is here! Now we can truly say it's winter. Even though the barnyard has melted pretty well, as you can see from the photo above, Ben did have to get the plow out Tuesday and clear off the driveway and the gravel road out to the back field.
The ducks are great fans of the snow. They enjoy temperatures a lot colder than chickens can tolerate, for example, and they get out and about in their snowy pasture unless it is really frigid or stormy.
We WILL be attending Brunswick Winter Market tomorrow from 9-12:30 at Fort Andross, and we will have PORK! We tried out quite a few recipes over the holidays, so we have some recipes and suggestions for how to enjoy some of the more unusual cuts - hock and trotter terrine, for example! I made all three recipes on this page - hock and trotter terrine, liver pate, and pork rillettes - last weekend. They take some time, but they are not complicated and they are so delicious!
We hope you have had a wonderful holiday, and we will see you at market!
