Monday was pretty great harvesting weather. Cloudy and cool for several hours in the morning, as you can see above, which meant that we had a little more flexibility on the order of harvest. This morning, because it was sunny and hot right off - see below! - we had to get the greens in as soon as possible. We are now getting into our late summer/early fall greens, so it was a bit of a challenge. At market tomorrow and Saturday, we will have lettuce mix, pea shoots, spicy mix, arugula, and spinach. Go greens!
As a point of interest, that first image is looking downhill over some broccoli and all our storage carrots, and the image below is looking uphill over our daikon, storage radishes, more broccoli (the blue leaves), and the storage carrots from the other side.
Now to the real point of this blog - eat more peppers!
We will probably harvest upwards of 500 lbs of peppers this week (our last harvest of the week will be tomorrow) - we are already over 400 lbs! So, please, eat more peppers! We will be having sales on all kinds of peppers if you buy a larger quantity. Did we mention that peppers freeze well? Fresh or roasted!
See you at market!
